There are a number of things you can do during the day, both at the
Tenuta and in the many nearby towns and villages. Our own (adult) children
found that there is more than enough to do to fill a week or more of
"day-trips". We live in a great area, and are founding members
of our local association
for the preservation of the peaceful countryside and the life-style that we now
have ("Associazione per la salvaguardia e lo sviluppo del Contado di Porta Eburnea").

Recreation at the Tenuta |
|
There are many of things you can do without leaving the
comfort and the convenience of our home.
|
|
Our
new pool is open May until the end of September (it depends on
the weather). You are invited to enjoy the pool at your
leasure!
|
|
|
|
We have
about 12 young fruit trees on the property that are starting to
produce nice things to eat. You are welcome to help yourself.
In late summer, there are also wild blackberry canes with fruit along
the paths outside the fence and a few still remaining inside the fence.
|
|
|
There
are roads and paths for walking out into the fields around us, up to
about 2km per tour. Since the Tenuta is on top of the only hill
close by, getting lost is difficult!
|
|
|
"Blondie" is our "young adult", calm, but affectionate
golden Labrador, and shares the good life "Tess" who has
somewhat more energy. They also survive together with our three somewhat aloof
cats. If you would like to take Blondie and Tess for a walk in the area, that can be arranged.
They would also be
glad to walk with you inside the fence.
|
|
|
You are
welcome to visit the bar in the evening (usually in the salon but with
seating indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather). We have
a selection of typical Italian and other aperitives and a good
selection of Italian wines, specialising in local wines from Colli
Perugini DOC area, Orvieto, and fantastic Barolo from San Biagio (not
from our village, but a vinyard in northern Italy). We also have well
known wines from other areas and other interesting International
selections. Special European beers, hard alcohols, and soft
drinks are available, as are snacks for munchers. Especially
inviting is our free greeting cocktail, the "Xango®
kir", featuring 100%
natural and extremely healthy Xango® juice
and "Perugina" or another of our local wines vino
frizzante. The first
"Xango® kir" you
order each night is free! |

There is
a walking (or biking) trail that follows the Nestore River
for about 5 km (each way). It is possible to start on our end, eat

Almost every town in Italy has one or more annual celebrations. San
Biagio della Valle for example has its Strawberry Festival during the last
week of
May. The Italians love a party, and almost any excuse will do -- nearby
Villanova has a fruit cocktail ("macedonia" in Italian) sagra
in mid-August, and Castillione della Valle (just across the alley from us)
has a "Palio" for donkeys in August as well. For some
ideas, take a look at the archives in our blog.

Sightseeing
|
|
One of the most interesting things you can do in Italy is
sightseeing! Sightseeing can take many
forms: historical, geographical, and just plain people-watching. There are many historical places to visit.
Around Perugia and Umbria, there is not only the Roman and post-Roman history to consider, but
also the history of the Etruscan civilization that preceeded it. Here are a few
things you
can enjoy in our neighborhood.
